The Fast Charge is the electric single seater racing car developed by the University of Rome “La Sapienza” that competes in the Formula Student Electric World Championship. The vehicle offers an excellent weight-to-power ratio of just 3 Kg/kW and is propelled by a 100 kW electric motor, which is powered by a 6.3 kWh/340 V lithium battery pack. The battery pack is specially designed to allow fast charging and its advanced version recharges in less than 8 minutes. The vehicle is equipped with a system of adjustable aerodynamic appendices (wings) developed in cooperation with Aviorec that, thanks to a cutting-edge technology, produces these composite profiles in one piece. The vehicle is equipped with a traction control CPU, which implements an innovative algorithm, and a sophisticated telemetry system. The control algorithms are based on machine learning archetypes that allow continuous reprocessing of the data acquired while the vehicle is moving. The Fast Charge has high performance and ensures acceleration from 0 to 100 Km/h in less than 3.7 seconds, while its highest speed has intentionally been limited to 130 km/h. Aviorec is currently developing the carbon fiber monocoque chassis for the Fast Charge in close cooperation with the engineering team of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (concurrent engineering).
